Enter The Matrix [OLD]
Storyline_

You've received word that the late Captain Thadius has dispatched an important message into a drop box. Considering the Osiris' recent MIA status, the package is considered important and Captain Niobi will risk everything to get it . . . even zipping her way through security and law enforcement halls riddled with slow motion bullets. Either her or her companion Ghost will; as you have the option of playing through the story with either character from the beginning. The story continues with the obtaining of the important tape and a grand shoot-out in a hallway much like the one Neo and Trinity let loose in during the original Matrix, complete with marble pillars just waiting to be torn up. From there you'll find yourself making a daring exit, escaping several police cars, and clambering up and across the rooftops in a Trinity-esque scene involving a painful run-in with an Agent. From there, its up to you to alert Zion and aid the rebels in there war to defeat the machines.

Don't expect any help from Neo and the others though, as the outcome of this story rests solely in the 3-man crew of the Logos.

Commentary_

"Whoa."

My response to this game was very familiar to that of Keanu Reeves discovering he knew kung fu. It wasn't the story line that made it awesome, or the characters, or even the graphics . . . it was the game play. An impressive conjunction of kung-fu, gunplay, and slow motion wall running was what made this game spectacular. Not to mention the fact that this game doesn't slow down, in the slightest. Just when you think you're character deserves a break, its back in the Matrix trying to avoid catastrophic amounts of Agents coming at you from every corner. And even though you might be good, when you see and Agent the best advice, still, is to run.

This game's second best feature was probably the kiss between Persephone and Niobi. I would love to say its the story line or cast, which to a certain degree it is, but the kiss scene was probably one of the coolest things I've seen in a video game. Call me horny if you must, but I'll retort with calling you an idiot for not checking this game out at least just to see the kissing scene. Its just one of those, "Holy shit that was cool" things that happens in a video game that is seldom rivaled.

Here's what bothered me: the graphics. To be honest, it wouldn't have looked that bad if I was playing it on a PS2, but I wasn't. I got in on X-Box for the full effect, but the problem with that is Shiney Ent. focused mainly on their PS2 version above all others. The product of this horrible concoction being an X-Box game looking like it was recycled off the PS2. Despite that, I wasn't playing it as much for the graphics as a chance to get a first-hand dose of the Matrix and a chance to discover more of the plot behind the movie series.

Aside from that, I think they should kick the crap out of the beta testers. I encountered like 5 glitches while playing the game, one of them being pretty bad. For example, if you ramp off of the freeway you fall into a black void where your car floats for about 5 minutes before eventually allowing you to try the level over. That kind of bugged me.

Conclusion_

An awesome game. I would heavily recommend it to anyone. Anyone who is unfamiliar with the bullet-time technique in video games will be thoroughly impressed. You may find some difficulty finding your way through levels and defeating impossible amounts of Agents, but to the best of my knowledge, saving human kind was never an easy task.
